What is HTTP Traffic Caching in 3G Networks about?

This document analyzes the potential benefits of forward caching for HTTP traffic in 3G cellular networks, highlighting that HTTP accounts for 82% of average downstream traffic. A caching cost model is provided to evaluate cost-benefit trade-offs, showing that caching at regional data centers can yield significant savings, although it may not always be beneficial. The study reveals that cache hit ratios increase with user population size, indicating that caching can be advantageous for networks with over 10
