Paltan Ghar was built in 1776 AD in Kathmandu by Abhiman Singh Basnyat after he conquered the city with 72 soldiers. It has architectural influences from both Mughal and Newari styles, with large arched windows and interior courtyards. The exterior features engraved depictions of the 72 soldiers who helped in the conquest. It was an important private residence and meeting place in its time.
