This phase 1 trial evaluated the feasibility, toxicity, and efficacy of CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy in children and young adults with refractory acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. A total of 21 patients were treated, with a maximum tolerated dose established at 1 × 10^6 CAR T cells per kg, and the therapy demonstrated potent anti-leukaemic activity with reversible toxicities.
