The Os substitution effects on the exotic metal-insulator (M-I) transition in the filled skutterudite compound SmRu 4 P 12 are studied by electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. SmðRu 1Àx Os x Þ 4 P 12 ðx 1⁄4 0:05; 0:10; 0:25; 0:50; 0:75Þ has been prepared at high temperature and high pressure. Twenty-five percent Os substitution almost suppresses the M-I transition. A resistivity minimum is observed around 50 KðT min Þ for all alloys and the minimum shifts with x. Furthermore, À log T dependence of resistivity below T min is also observed above x 1⁄4 0:25. These facts suggest that the Sm-based filled skutterudite phosphides are Kondo systems.
