The document describes a study that used a nanostructured gold modified glassy carbon electrode to determine trace levels of chromium(VI) through square wave voltammetry. The electrode was prepared through electrodeposition of gold nanoparticles on the glassy carbon surface. Scanning electron microscopy images showed uniformly deposited gold nanoparticles, increasing the effective surface area. This allowed detection of chromium(VI) at lower levels than other common methods, with a detection limit of 0.01 μ
