In recent years, scholarship of diverse disciplines has come to a general consensus that migrants' voices need to be heard and that their agency needs to be shown. Uncertain Citizenship contributes to this conversation by uncovering many untold stories of Bolivian migrants in Chile through their own voices and perspectives while showing both the harsh realities of their lives and the agentic power that each migrant wielded. In doing so, Uncertain Citizenship challenges the conventional wisdom that conceptualises citizenship as clearly defined spaces of inclusion and exclusion, or a third in-between space. Rather, citizenship, as Uncertain Citizenship argues, 'is built in part "from below" through the everyday practices of ordinary people ' (p. 19).
