This study seeks to use Multiplex Ligation-Dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA) to efficiently detect androgen receptor (AR) splice variants, which are linked to prostate cancer. Custom probes were designed to bind exon-exon junctions of different AR variants. MLPA was used to analyze expression levels in prostate cell lines. Results showed MLPA effectively differentiated variant expression and correlated with expected levels. Direct binding of probes to mRNA was also tested but had more inconsistent result
