The founders of SAI Plus Health Plan, Dr. Maruthi Manney and his wife Lakshmi Manney, were sentenced for defrauding school districts and businesses by diverting over $500,000 in health plan assets. They made misrepresentations to employer groups to obtain premium payments for a health plan they never intended to provide. Checks were printed for claims but never mailed.
