This study analyzed the skin microbiota of 41 domestic pigeons, revealing that all birds carried staphylococci, with S. lentus being the most prevalent species. A total of ten different staphylococcal species were identified, predominantly coagulase-negative staphylococci, and some strains exhibited resistance to tetracycline and penicillin. Importantly, no methicillin-resistant staphylococci were found, indicating a low risk of multidrug resistance in the pigeon population studied.
