This study evaluates the use of Viscoelastic Response (VisR) ultrasound to detect changes in mechanical anisotropy associated with renal fibrosis in a pig model following chronic ischemia-reperfusion injury. The results indicate that VisR can noninvasively measure changes in elastic degree of anisotropy, showing decreased anisotropy in the fibrotic medulla and increased in the fibrotic cortex, validated by histological analysis.
