The study assessed the prevalence of syphilis in patients at a tertiary care hospital in Trichy district, finding a low incidence of 0.34% among 4396 samples collected from 2010 to 2013. The highest positivity was observed in the age group of 21-40 years, with a particularly low incidence of 0.31% among pregnant women at their first prenatal visit. The findings suggest a need for increased awareness and screening in high-risk populations to control syphilis and prevent its complications.
