What is Robocasting Additive Manufacturing of Titanium and Titanium Alloys: A Review about?
Robocasting, also known as "direct ink writing", "direct write fabrication", "robot assisted deposition", "microextrusion", "3D plotting", or "direct-write assembly", is a material extrusion additive manufacturing (AM) technology [1,2]. It was originally developed for AM of ceramics [3,4], but it is currently becoming very popular for the production of metallic parts [1,[5][6][7][8][9]. Among structural metallic materials, titanium has high specific mechanical strength, high fracture toughness, low elastic modulus and high corrosion resistance, finding important applications in aerospace, marine, medical, alimentary, energy, recreational and chemical industries. The AM of high-performance titanium parts is attractive but at the same time challenging because of the high reactivity of titanium with oxygen and other elements that leads to the formation of oxides and brittle inclusions. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of current advancements in the rapidly evolving area of AM of titanium objects by robocasting. ## Additive Manufacturing AM is a set of manufacturing technologies that produce complex three-dimensional (3D) structures by deposition of materia
