After reviewing levels of theological thinking-depth-theology, descriptive theology, and philosophical theology, this chapter presents the theological enterprise as the individual seeking meaning as an alternative to the medieval view of "faith seeking understanding." Discussion then turns to: the nature of the problem of individual meaning, our response to the problem, and our enactment of that response. The role of faith and the biblical claim that humans are created in God's image are explored. Living in partnership with God, in covenant, through crafting one's life as a work of art, is o ered as a theological response to the problem of individual human meaning.The previous chapter o ered a portrait of the nature of and the criteria for a valid Jewish theology.
