About this document
Understanding Rope Construction Types by Mitanshu Chadha is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Rope can be constructed in two primary ways - laid or braided. Laid rope twists fibers into yarns, then twists the yarns into strands which are finally twisted together to form rope. Braided rope braids strands together instead of twisting. Laid rope comes in 3-strand or 8-strand varieties while braided rope can be single or double braid. Modern ropes most often use strong, durable synthetic materials like nylon and polypropylene over natural fibers.
