One of four organic chemistry units of ILPAC. "ILPAC stands for Independent Learning Project for Advanced Chemistry. It is a complete, detailed A-level chemistry course with a strong independent learning element. Written by ILEA teachers and lecturers, it has been widely trialled in ILEA schools and colleges. ILPAC offers solutions to a wide range of problems, such as those posed by very small or very large teaching groups, by consortium arrangements between schools, or by evening class teaching in colleges. However, ILPAC has been developed primarily as a learning resource, designed to free the teacher from much routine activity, and to give the student a greater degree of responsibility for his or her own learning. ILPAC is a flexible scheme, based on twenty units. Each unit consists of a student's guide, accompanied by teacher's and technician's notes. The student's guides are large format with clear, well-illustrated layouts.
