What is Hematite Magnetic Properties Overview about?

Hematite (α-Fe2O3) is a magnetic material that undergoes a low-temperature magnetic transition at 260K. Below 260K, the Fe3+ spins are directed along the [111] axis and paired across shared octahedral faces. Above 260K, the spins become localized in (111) sheets directed toward three nearest neighbors, with a weak ferromagnetic moment along the [111] axis. The Néel temperature is approximately 960K, and the paramagnetic Curie temperature is -2940K.
