What is The Plume, A Civil War Love Story about?
This Civil War love story began when Walter was injured by a Confederate bullet at Gettysburg, on July 3, 1863. Unconscious for three days, he awoke to the most beautiful smiling face he had ever seen. The nurse was Florence, and she told Walter, "You will be alright." Walter fought with the Iron Brigade and those soldiers wore black hats with a plume in the band. After a week, Walter was transferred to another hospital. Very sad about leaving Florence, Walter gave her the plume from his hat as a symbol of his love for her.
