Dunkirk (2017) is a movie about the British military operation in 1940 to evacuate Allied troops from Dunkirk, France as German forces advanced. It shows the evacuation from three perspectives - on land over one week, at sea over one day, and in the air over one hour. Through these intersecting stories, the film depicts the tense race to rescue 400,000 British and French soldiers trapped on the beach under constant attack as their only hope was to be evacuated by sea.
