A New Infrared-Measuring System for Determining Surface Temperatures of Flames by A. Braun; V. Lipping; D. Straub; R. Waibei is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.
What is A New Infrared-Measuring System for Determining Surface Temperatures of Flames about?
Using the spontaneous Rotation-Raman-Effect, the temperature distribution in a propane flame is measured. The temperature distribution is then compared with the experimentally determined infrared (IR) emission spectra. This shows that the local temperature of any hydrocarbon flame surface can be evaluated by measuring the spectral radiation intensity of the carbondioxide wavelength of 4.3 , because of the insensitivity of KirchhofFs law applied to non-equilibrium states. With these experimental results, a new procedure for measuring flame-surfacetemperatures without any probe can be proposed.
