What is How Fisher used null hypothesis tests about?

As it is conventionally understood, null hypothesis testing is an ill-conceived fusion of two methods. The flawed fusion lends itself to misunderstanding and misuse and has garnered a host of criticisms. In this appendix, we focus on one of the fused method’s parents: Ronald Fisher’s approach to null hypothesis testing. We find that Fisher went beyond something other than the null hypothesis is correct and chose a direction; avoided thoughtlessly placing results into one of two categories; chose α thoughtfully (or said we should); tested nulls to make provisional decisions, not final decisions; and used simple, clear frequentist prose that cannot be misinterpreted. Fisher’s method is hard to misunderstand or misuse and is immune to criticism.
