What is Radial Distortion Self-Calibration Insights about?

This paper investigates critical configurations that lead to ambiguities in estimating radial distortion during 3D reconstruction. It introduces a motion field-based framework to analyze these configurations and identifies critical surfaces and motions that can cause reconstruction errors. The findings aim to improve image capture practices and inform when pre-calibration of radial distortion is necessary.
