Methods: After commissioning the software locally, it was assessed using a cohort of 60 treatment plans produced using XiO/CMS treatment planning system (TPS). All are for non-IMRT treatments on six Elekta and two Varian machines equipped with motorised and enhanced dynamic wedges. The MUs of 470 open/wedged fields involved were re-calculated using Diamond and compared with the TPS calculated MUs. The results were analysed in order to identify factors that determine accuracy and to set action levels. Results: To obtain desired results, three user interventions are required to correct for: (a) The differences between physical and effective depths of the dose calculation point. (b) The differences between central-axis and fan-line SSDs when asymmetric fields are used. (c) Missing tissues in chest wall treatments. The results indicated that an action level set at AE5% is reasonable for all. Discussions: User interventions (a) and (b) are necessary because the missing data are not DICOM RT-plan entities, and, hence, could not be unique to this MUV system.
