A wooden house caught fire in Kampung Hulu, killing one child. The fire was caused when a 5-year-old boy played with matches that he found, lighting one and throwing it on the floor which quickly spread the flames. The fire brigade was called and put out the fire, but not before the boy perished in the fire. The fire officers advised being more careful with matches and fire hazards, and suggested installing fire extinguishers in homes.
