This quantitative study investigates the mediating effect of vocabulary knowledge on the relationship between language awareness and reading comprehension among English education students. Results indicate that vocabulary knowledge partially mediates this relationship, with low levels of both vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension observed in the participants. The findings suggest the need for targeted interventions to improve vocabulary and reading skills to enhance overall language proficiency.
