What is Tyranid Assimilation of Dalki-Prime about?

The Tyranid infestation of the planet Dalki-Prime was able to completely strip the planet of all organic and inorganic material within 100 days, rendering it uninhabitable. Over 10 billion cubic kilometers of water, gases, soil, and minerals were removed by the Tyranids. Through the use of spores, Rippers, and other Tyranid organisms, all biomass was consumed and even the atmosphere was vacuumed away. By day 100, the Imperial Navy arrived to find the planet barren and its diameter reduced by 4.2%.
