Plato was a Greek philosopher born between 424-423 BC and died between 348-347 BC. He developed an educational philosophy grounded in an ideal "Republic" where individuals were subordinate to a just society. Plato believed the mind and body were separate, and expressed his views in dialogues like Phaedo that knowledge comes from understanding ideal forms, and that the soul is immortal.
