About this document
Biomolecules Overview and Functions Chart by Kelvin Patrick Enriquez is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids are the four major biomolecules that make up living organisms. Carbohydrates include monosaccharides like glucose and fructose as well as polysaccharides like starch and cellulose. Proteins are made of amino acid monomers that polymerize to form three-dimensional structures. Nucleic acids like DNA and RNA are made of nucleotide monomers and provide genetic instructions. Lipids include fatty acids and glycerol that form cell membranes and store energy.
