What is Bioleaching of Heavy Metals from a Contaminated Soil Using Bacteria from Wastewater Sludge about?
Heavy metal pollution in soil seriously threatens the soil ecological environment. How to effectively remediate heavy metal pollution in soil has become a research hotspot in the field of environmental engineering. Traditional remediation methods, such as the chemical leaching remediation method and solidification remediation method for soil heavy metal pollution have disadvantages such as secondary pollution and large amounts of reagents. Bioleaching has the characteristics of low remediation cost and environmental friendliness, and has good large-scale promotion and application prospects. This section reviews the types, sources, screening, isolation, and identification of bacterial species used in bioleaching soil heavy metal. The mechanism of bioleaching is analyzed and discussed. Finally, the problems existing in the process of bioleaching soil heavy metal are discussed and solutions are given. The main conclusions obtained are as follows: (1) the main bacterial species used for bioleaching soil heavy metal include bacteria represented by Thiobacillus acidophilus and fungi represented by Aspergillus niger; (2) factors affecting the bioleaching efficiency of heavy metals in soil
