Robert Earl Wise was an American film director, producer and editor who won Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for both West Side Story in 1961 and The Sound of Music in 1965. He also received a Best Film Editing nomination for Citizen Kane and directed and produced other notable films such as The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Haunting, The Andromeda Strain, and the first Star Trek film.
