Simon & Garfunkel were an American folk rock duo consisting of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. They formed in 1957 and had early success with the song "Hey, Schoolgirl" before rising to fame in 1965 with their hit single "The Sound of Silence". Their music was featured in the 1967 film The Graduate, which increased their popularity further. The song "Scarborough Fair" references tasks the singer asks his love to complete at the Scarborough Fair in exchange for his love.
