Philo Farnsworth was an American inventor who developed the first fully electronic television system in the 1920s. He had the idea as a teenager that only an electronic system could scan and assemble images fast enough for television, rather than mechanical systems using spinning discs. By 1922, he had worked out the basic outlines of electronic television.
