This study investigates the use of genetic programming (GP) to derive variogram models for ordinary kriging in estimating missing rainfall data. The proposed genetic programming-based ordinary kriging (GPOK) method was applied to historical rainfall data from 19 gauge stations in Victoria, Australia, and demonstrated superior performance compared to traditional ordinary kriging and ANN-based methods. The findings suggest that GP-derived variogram models are a promising alternative for spatial interpolation
