About this document

Measuring Vacuum Space Temperature by darioparigi is a document available to read on EtoBox.

In space, temperature cannot be measured through conduction or convection as there is nothing to transfer heat. Instead, temperature is measured through radiation. A thermometer in space will radiate its heat and reach an equilibrium temperature of 2.7 kelvin by absorbing radiation from the cosmic microwave background. This 2.7 kelvin temperature represents the temperature of deep space.
