What is Seeing through the eyes of Jesus : his revolutionary view of reality and his transcendent significance for faith about?

With Seeing Through the Eyes of Jesus, John Baggett invites readers to adjust their understanding of Jesus. Rather than looking at Jesus — the popular conception of the historical Jesus — Baggett contends we should instead look with Jesus at the realities of God and neighbor as he perceived them. Baggett incorporates the witness of the key human relationships of Jesus, and why those earliest believers and friends considered him divine. Baggett then asks how Christ's transcendence can ultimately translate to significance for life and faith in today's story.
John Baggett has written a brilliant and original work. He has blended sound Biblical scholarship, anthropological theory, and fresh creative insight to unveil a portrait of Jesus that is historically believable and profoundly relevant for our own times. This is a book that should be read by all who wish to take Jesus seriously while facing and engaging the challenges of our postmodern world. I recommend it with unreserved enthusiasm.
— William Jay Peck
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
