What is Fila Brasileiro: History and Standards about?

The Fila Brasileiro descends from European dogs brought to Brazil during colonization. They were bred on plantations and farms to herd cattle and chase runaway slaves. The first written breed standard was in 1946, with a club organizing breeding programs. There are two main standards in Brazil set by different clubs, with one based more on the ancient phenotype of the breed.
