We recently diagnosed a case of rectal foreign body (RFB), which was a plastic container of liquid glue with an attached thread, as a remedy for constipation. A 73-year-old man was transferred to our hospital for disturbance of consciousness. His medical history included Parkinson...s disease. His wife found him sinking in the bathtub, and she called for an ambulance. During his physical examination at the emergency department, a coarse bilateral crackling sound was heard. Additionally, no abdominal tenderness nor distension were detected. Aspiration pneumonia was diagnosed based on a plain whole-body computed tomography (CT) scan, as well as the patient history, physical findings, and examinations. We also made a presumptive diagnosis of loss of consciousness (syncope), and it attributed it to his abnormal mental status. The patient was intubated, admitted to the intensive care unit, and started on antibiotics. On the second hospital day, our radiologist pointed out a RFB on the patient...s CT scans; an unused 65 g plastic container of liquid glue measuring 35 × 35 × 120 mm, with a thread attached, was successfully removed from his anus without anesthesia by pulling on the thread.
