This document compares the maceration and reflux extraction methods for extracting phenolic compounds from corn cob (Zea mays L.) extracts. Total phenolic content was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu method. The results showed that maceration extraction yielded 0.312 mg/g or 312.420 mg/kg of phenolics, while reflux extraction yielded higher levels at 0.397 mg/g or 396.768 mg/kg. Reflux extraction was therefore more effective at extracting higher amounts of phenolic compounds from corn cob.
