About this document
AIX Boot Process Overview by Rishi Sinha is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The AIX boot process consists of three phases: 1. The ROS kernel init phase performs hardware checks and loads the boot image into memory. 2. The base device configuration phase runs the cfgmgr process to configure devices. 3. The system boot phase executes the kernel, mounts filesystems, starts init processes defined in /etc/inittab like /etc/rc.boot and /etc/rc.tcpip, and sets the default run level of 2 for multi-user environment.
