About this document
Dynamics of Floating Wind Turbines in Ice by Sachin Sithik is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This document analyzes the dynamic behavior of floating wind turbines under open water and level ice conditions. It uses the MIT-NREL TLP floater design as a reference. It models the combined floater-turbine system with three degrees of freedom and derives hydrodynamic characteristics. It simulates wind, wave, and ice loading, comparing structure response under crushing and bending ice failure modes to very harsh open water conditions. It finds that ice bending loads up to 1 m thickness are comparable to op
