This document analyzes the salinity of aquifers in the Macacu sedimentary basin in Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 2009-2010. Four distinct sources of groundwater were identified based on physical/chemical data and Cl/Br ratios. Group 1 waters from the recharge area had Cl/Br ratios of 100-539 and Cl < 25 mg/L.
