A visual and acoustic survey was conducted in the eastern and southern Caribbean Sea to assess the distribution and status of humpback whales in the region and to evaluate survey methods. The survey involved scientists from several nations and covered over 10,000 km from February to March 2000. A total of 33 sightings of 46 humpback whales, including 3 calves, were made visually.
