Ajahn Chah was a famous teacher in the Thai forest traditionof Theravada Buddhism. Born in 1917 in Ubon RachathaniProvince of Northeast Thailand, he ordained as a monk in hisearly twenties. Ajahn Chah spent the rest of his life in therobes, practising, and later teaching the Dhamma to both Thaisand foreigners.This small booklet is a selection of some of his teachingsdealing specifically with meditation practice. It contains editedextracts from various talks already translated and publishedover the years. The extracts have been put together followingthe general pattern of preliminary instructions, deepeningone’s meditation, and cultivating insight. As it is a compilationof teachings there is a certain amount of repetition, but this initself was a feature of Ajahn Chah’s style, emphasizing keythemes again and again throughout his years of teaching.We hope that it helps bring life to some of the wisdom of thismuch loved meditation master.
