This document describes an experiment to investigate the equilibrium of forces acting at a point using a force table apparatus. Students will analyze both graphically and analytically the forces acting on a small ring suspended by strings attached to masses placed on the force table. They will determine the equilibrium condition for three forces acting on the ring, and then for four forces, by adjusting a third or fourth force until the ring is freed from the central pin.
