What is Alcohol Consumption in Maintenance Workers about?

This study analyzed alcohol consumption among public maintenance workers at a university in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The study found that 78% of workers consumed alcohol in the past 12 months. Of those, 43% were low risk drinkers, 50% were heavy drinkers, and 7% showed signs of dependency. Years of schooling, job position, gender, income, and skin color were associated with alcohol consumption levels. Workers with fewer years of schooling had higher rates of hazardous drinking and dependency symptoms.
