A bending test is carried out for the evaluation of anti-galling performance of the tools in aluminum sheet forming. A newly proposed index for anti-galling ability can better evaluate the anti-galling performance of the tools. MoB-base cermets has an excellent anti-galling performance in aluminum sheet forming. The coated tools (TiC, TiN, CrN) have better properties for avoiding galling than SKD11, but their anti-galling performances are less desirable than that of cemented carbide tools.
