Eutrophication: Processes and Impacts by Saadet Dagistanli is a document available to read on EtoBox.
What is Eutrophication: Processes and Impacts about?
Eutrophication is the process by which excess nutrients, like nitrates and phosphates from detergents, fertilizers, livestock waste and sewage, enter a body of water. This causes algae growth that reduces oxygen levels as it dies off. Lower oxygen levels then cause other aquatic plants and fish to die due to lack of oxygen. Management strategies aim to minimize nutrient inputs and treat affected areas by increasing oxygen levels, removing contaminated sediments, and treating sewage.
