Taenia solium, commonly known as the pork tapeworm, is a parasitic cestode worm that infects humans and pigs. The adult worm lives in the small intestine of humans. Eggs are passed in feces and ingested by pigs, where they develop into the larval cysticercus stage in muscle tissue. Humans are infected by eating undercooked pork containing the cysticercus larvae.
