What is Government of India Act 1935 Overview about?

The Government of India Act of 1935 established a bicameral legislature with an Indian Legislature Assembly and Council of State. It divided governing powers between the central and provincial governments and introduced a new constitution for India that failed to satisfy nationalist leaders. The act was criticized by both the Indian National Congress and Muslim League for not providing adequate self-governance and maintaining too much control by the British.
