What is Fromm about?

Erich Fromm (1900-1980) was a German social psychologist and philosopher. He received his PhD in sociology at age 22 and later fled Nazi Germany for the US. Fromm made contributions to humanistic philosophy and was influenced by Freud and Marx. Some of his major works examined the psychological effects of freedom and individualism in modern society compared to medieval society. He also developed theories on character orientations and basic human needs.
