On August 28, 2023, a Eurocopter EC135 helicopter crashed near Pompano Beach, Florida during an air medical flight, killing two people. According to the pilot, shortly after takeoff the number one engine experienced a bang and rising temperatures. Despite activating the fire suppression system, a second bang occurred and the helicopter lost control. Witness video showed an in-flight fire near the engine and tail separation.
